Graspop, the festival where everybody can be themselves without being judged. One big community that comes together to enjoy the metal music. Even if it is rainy, stormy, sunny or all of the previous, it doesn’t matter. Bands show respect to fans and fans show respect to bands and to other fans. So raise your devilhorns and prepare for the four day story to be unfold.
We've had it coming. After the string of terror hits in the European continent. And after the bombings of Brussels it was descided the treath level remains on 3(after it was raised to 4 and lowered again). This has effect on every belgian festival(which number well in the 280).
For me it was the first time going to a concert instead of a festival. But hey, there’s a first time for everything right? My trip started out with missing my train, which forced me to take another train which made me into my old classmate. That shows that every bad thing, also has a good side. So, after my train trip to Antwerp, I took the tram to Trix. On the website itself it already says which tram or bus you have to take and at which stop you have to get off. I took the tram, got off at ‘Hof ter Lo’ and walked 2 minutes to Trix. There was already a waiting line in front of the door, which wasn’t really necessary because you could still get to the front easily if you came to the show later.
If anybody had told me last year I would be celebrating my birthday at a music festival in a cave…
Let’s start with saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY PUKKELPOP! Cause this year Pukkelpop is celebrating its 30th birthday.
Let me start of by saying this: Castlefest is not a festival. It is a world - or even a universe - all on its own. Every summer, for four days in a row, the forest of Castle Keukenhof in Lisse, The Netherlands, is transformed in a realm of fantasy, steampunk, re-enactment and much much more.
For those of you who have no clue what Castlefest is, but have been to a convention before, imagine this. You take all of the convention, but spread it out over a small forest instead of a big hangar. Along the paths you find some blacksmiths, leatherworkers, fur traders and dozens of other kinds of shops. On the large open spaces, you put 4 stages with some of the best (Pagan) Folk (Rock) bands from all over Europe. Add a re-enactment village of canvas tents et voilà: Castlefest!
Since 2008 this hard rock and metal festival takes place in Kortrijk, Belgium. It changed its location a couple of times. This year was the first year at ‘Lange Munte’. It’s a very good location. The campsite is close to the festival so it’s easy to walk back and forth. Also the capacity of the festival is bigger. This year the festival had around 12000 visitors.
