Ex Eye is a new metal oriented project of the American saxophonist Colin Stetson.
Like many of his other musical endeavors, this is a very experimental affair that should quite appealing to fans of Shining’s ‘Blackjazz’. On bass and synth he is joined by Shahzaf Ismaily and on drums & electronics by Greg Fox. Guitar duties are fulfilled by Toby Summerfield. Their self-titled debut is by no means an easy listen. It sounds like an almost free form style of music that constantly surprises you and offers you nothing to grab hold of while you spiral downwards through the four vertigo inducing compositions. An unnerving experience that is definitely not for the faint hearted.
