Still not over Bolt Thrower’s untimely demise?
Warlord UK might your be the nuclear blast from the past you’ve been waiting for. Inspired mainly by their countrymen Benediction and the already mentioned Bolt Thrower these British troopers released their debut album ‘Maximum Carnage’ through Nuclear Blast in 1996. Unfortunately, that promising start got lost in a time when everybody seems to only interested in the ultra-slick Gothenburg style of death metal or true Norwegian black metal, with very little consideration for this kind of old school war mongery. The band called it quits soon after only to reform in a friendlier musical climate in 2008. Even though ‘Maximum Carnage’ will offer nothing that hadn’t been done by the other great English death stars in the nineties, it definitely deserved a better hand than it was dealt 20 years ago. On this rerelease, the 3 Amebix and Slayer covers have, unfortunately, been left out and replaced by 2 live tracks, but be sure to actually get the deluxe package with the vintage tee!
