Back in the early nineties the Netherlands had a strong, burgeoning doom death scene that spawned the likes of Officium Triste, Celestial Season, Necro Schizma, The Gathering, Asphyx and Beyond Belief.
They released two full lenghts on Shark Records that have in the meanwhile become very difficult to find. Around a decade ago their demo work was rerleased on vinyl by Painiac records after which they even reformed for a short stint to do a couple of shows , but their studio work remained largely unavailable until now that Hammerheart has faithfully reproduced the two records. Beyond Belief’s trademark was a tradeoff between Trouble inspired heavy doom riffing and a death metal attitude with growled Benediction like vocals. Especially on the first one, the classic doom riffs abound, whereas the follow up pushed the pace upwards somewhat but with more solid songs A valid addition to any serious to doom collection.
