Read more ...Celebrating their 20th anniversary, Sacred Steel released one hell of an album. It’s pure heavy metal throughout the whole thing. It has some surprising touches to it though. For example the clean guitar bit in ‘The Sign of the Skull’ and the another clean guitar bit in  ‘Vulture Priest’ (and other songs). But that only last for 15 seconds and then the sacrifice starts again.

A heavenly voice is watching over this album in the form of classical/crossover soprano Diana Shade. Calm electric guitar riffs in the background are giving even more power to this angelic voice. While being symphonic metal, the album has a heavily classical atmosphere to it.

Sorrowful Land is a one-man atmospheric doom metal project from Ukraine, headed by Max Molodtsov from Edenian. A special feature of the lyrics on Of Ruins... is that these are a combination of classical English poetry from the 19th century and lyrics of the author.
