On 30 July, all kinds creatures and people will gather on the domain of Kasteel Keukenhof in Lisse (The Netherlands) for Castlefest, the annual high mass of Fantasy and Pagan folk of the Benelux.

Well known among lovers of folk and fantasy by now, but still somewhat of a mystery to others. The best way to describe Castlefest is to think of a convention like F.A.C.T.S. taking place in a forest.

One area is turned into an iron-age re-enactors encampment for the weekend. Another becomes a LARP village with battles taking place at regular intervals. The paths connecting all the areas are bordered by blacksmiths, leather shops, all kinds of creatives selling their wares and not to forget delicious mead. It also flows from the bars, by the way.

Add 4 stages featuring top Pagan Folk bands from all over Europe and you get a great festival. This year’s line up features Afro Celt Sound System, Faun, Omnia, Irfan, Prima Nocta, Euzen and many more.

Hundreds of cosplayers, dozens of shops and great music on 4 stages. Perfect recipe for a magical weekend.
