In the light of their most recent album ‘’Worship Music’’, we got the chance to talk to Scott Ian. He remains the sole constant member of Anthrax since its formation.
First of all I would like to thank you for taking the time to answer our questions. And congratulations with your little wonder.
How did it feel to become a father ? Doesn’t make touring difficult when you got Revel young Ian at home?
It's the best experience of my life and yes it is hard to leave him even for five minutes.
I read that you’re a big fan from Battlestar Galactica and Doctor who. Do you collect items of the show or is that a bridge to far ?
Yes I am a fan but no, I don't collect memorabilia from those shows.
You wrote ‘’Lobo; Highway to hell’’ does that mean that we could find you on Comic con as well?
Yes, I love Comicon although it's hard to walk around and check stuff out because there are so many Anthrax fans there. Maybe next time I will wear a Gene Simmons mask!
Your combining Anthrax with various VH1 shows, poker, The damned things, the band Pearl, … Do you even got time to rest out?
Not combining, one thing at a time.
With all those projects, do you still got inspiration left to bring new things ?
Yes. They're all different.
You’re married to Pearl Aday, how does it feel to be the son in law of the famous Meat Loaf? Is he an inspiration for you?
It feels good. I was a fan of his since I was a kid so yes, you could say he is inspirational. And also a very nice guy.
You just finished The Big 4 Tour, is there anything that still leaves an impression behind?
Yes, how much fun it is to play those shows to such amazing crowds. We got to play Yankee Stadium in NYC and I can say it was the highlight of my career.
Was it easy after all those years to welcome Joey back to Anthrax? After all there was a lot of dispute between the band members over the years.
Yes, very easy. We obviously can create great things together.
How did the fans react to the reunion with Joey?
It's been the best time for Anthrax since the early 1990's.
What is the difference in Anthrax now and in 1981?
Less hair. More tattoos.
Why did you wait eight years to bring out a new album? Did the lineup change had something to do with it ?
We didn't wait eight years. We were on tour 2003-2006. We started writing in 2007 and it took four years to finish.
How do you see the further growth of Anthrax ?
I think we are at the top of our game creatively and with Joey back in full time it will only get better.
Now a question from one of our readers: If you have to choose one song of Anthrax that reflects your emotion right now which one would it be and why ?
The Devil You Know because it's about kicking ass and that's what I am currently doing.
Is there something that you want to say to the readers/fans ?
Thank you for your patience, thank you for your loyalty and thank you for loving this music. Keep worshipping all the time!
Keep on rocking
Cheers,
Scott
